Actress Melissa Gilbert drops out of Michigan's 8th Congressional District race - MLive.com

LANSING, MI -- Melissa Gilbert, an actress and the Democratic candidate for Michigan's 8th Congressional District, has officially dropped out of the 2016 race.

Gilbert announced in a press release late Tuesday evening that head and neck injuries from two accidents in 2012 have forced her to drop out of the race. 

"while I even have obtained the most reliable medication and therapy I could have asked for, these injuries have only gotten worse," Gilbert talked about within the commentary. "As plenty as it breaks my heart to say this, my doctors have advised me i'm bodily unable to proceed my run for Congress.

"because the best candidate to file sufficient valid signatures, I plan to vacate the ballot in accordance with the law," she persisted. 

Gilbert, most appropriate commonly used for her function taking part in Laura Ingalls Wilder in the "Little condo on the Prairie" television collection, has lived in Livingston County because 2013 and was the only Democratic candidate qualified to seem on the polltowards Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Rochester.
